The God Slayer Officially Announced by Pathea Games
Pathea Games, the Chinese studio behind My Time at Portia, has officially revealed its new action RPG The God Slayer. The announcement came with both a CGI trailer and a long gameplay video, giving players a clear look at what the team has been working on. The game originally started as part of Sony’s China Hero Project, a program that supports Chinese developers, but it no longer carries that label.
A Steampunk World Controlled by Celestial Gods
The God Slayer takes place in a large, Eastern-inspired steampunk city ruled by powerful godlike beings called Celestials. These rulers control the city with strict dominance, shaping how people live and survive. Players step into the role of Cheng, a skilled Elemancer who can control natural elements like fire, water, earth, and more. After a personal tragedy caused by the Celestials, Cheng begins a journey to defeat them and eventually become the “God Slayer.”

Elemental Combat That Reacts to the World
A major feature of the game is its dynamic elemental system. Elements behave naturally and influence each other in real time, allowing players to use the environment to their advantage. For example:
Water puts out fire
Fire burns wood
Steam forms from boiling water
Earth can block or weaken attacks
This system encourages players to think carefully during battles and combine different elements for powerful results. It adds strategy while still feeling easy to understand.
A City Full of Technology, Culture and Conflict
Most of the adventure takes place in the capital of the Zhou Kingdom. This large city sits between two major rivers and stretches all the way to the Eastern Sea. It represents the peak of steam technology: airships fly overhead, monorails transport people across large districts, and factories produce constant smoke.
The world is divided into two very different lifestyles. The rich live comfortably with air-conditioned homes and mechanical household machines, while the poor work long hours in dark, dangerous factories. Multiple factions operate within the city, each with their own beliefs and goals, and players will have to navigate these groups to progress through the story.

Release Information
The God Slayer does not yet have a release date, but it is confirmed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. More details are expected as development continues.
Final Thoughts
The God Slayer stands out with its simple yet strategic elemental combat, detailed steampunk setting, and a story built around rebellion and survival. Pathea Games seems to be combining accessible gameplay with a rich world, which could make this one of the more exciting action RPG releases in the coming years.
