Introduction

This game hardly needs an introduction—Mario feels like part of the family at this point.

Super Mario Odyssey is the perfect game to play while hanging out with friends, chatting, and keeping the volume just loud enough to hear Charles André Martinet’s joyful “YAHOO!”

Story

The story is simple: Princess Peach has been taken, and you’ll have to chase Bowser across the globe to rescue her!

Side quests are comforting and lighthearted, giving you the freedom to explore at your own pace while collecting Power Moons scattered everywhere—and trust me, there are a lot of them. The quests are silly, joyful, and fun in a very Mario way.

Story Rating: 7.5/10

Gameplay

It’s classic Mario platforming—lots of jumping, exploring, and collecting items hidden throughout the kingdoms. The new “Cappy” mechanic adds a fresh twist, letting you take control of enemies (and even some people!) to solve puzzles and reach new areas.

Gameplay Rating: 8/10

Graphics

The visuals are exactly what you’d expect from a Nintendo Switch game—and honestly, still impressive. The worlds are colorful, charming, and detailed. Performance was smooth, with no noticeable stutters or framerate drops.

Graphics Rating: 8/10

Playtime

Completing a kingdom in one sitting feels satisfying, and the game is packed with things to do. It took me about 25 hours to finish the main adventure, but I still had moons left to find. I’d estimate around 27 hours for 100% completion—plenty of fun for your money.

Playtime Rating: 9/10

Final Thoughts

Super Mario Odyssey is pure, classic fun. It doesn’t take itself too seriously and offers an enjoyable, lighthearted adventure from start to finish.

Overall Score: 8/10
