Introduction:
If crippling gambling addiction had a face but didn’t cost you everything, it would look like this game. Balatro is a video poker game that can turn anyone into an addict. And yes, it can happen to you too! (Don’t discard that 2, I might need it later!)
Gameplay:
Balatro is not your typical casino video poker machine—it makes you want to keep playing, and playing, and playing. Sorry, what was I saying? Ah, yes! It features classic roguelike elements such as random card packs and upgrades, where every card or round can completely change your run—for better or for worse!
Gameplay Rating: 10/10
Graphics:
The graphics are charmingly retro, with CRT filters and bloom effects. The sound design really makes you feel like you’re in a casino! However, the music can become repetitive after a while, so I recommend turning on your favorite podcast, music playlist, or watching your favorite streamer on twitch: GurbeGaming
Graphics Rating: 7/10
Final Thoughts:
Just one more run! I’ll hit the big one—I know I will!
Overall Score: 8.5/10
Pros:
It’s a great game to play on the side. You can jump in whenever you’re bored or just want to relax and chill.
Cons:
Addiction is real! Take regular breaks. I’ve found myself losing track of time and even falling asleep while playing!
