Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP coming to Switch 2 this November

Dragami Games has revealed that Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Switch 2 is set to launch later this year. Players who already own the game on the standard Nintendo Switch will be able to upgrade to the new edition, although it remains unclear whether that upgrade will be free or require an additional fee.

According to the developer, the Switch 2 version will include enhanced resolution, smoother framerate, and graphical improvements designed to take advantage of the new hardware.

A remaster of a cult classic

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP first launched in 2024 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam. The remaster brings back the 2012 cult hit originally created by Grasshopper Manufacture, the studio behind No More Heroes.

The wild story behind Lollipop Chainsaw

The game follows Juliet Starling, a cheerleader fighting to save her high school from a zombie apocalypse. Armed with her trusty chainsaw — and dressed in her iconic revealing outfit — she slashes through hordes of undead. She’s joined by her boyfriend Nick, whose severed head provides comic relief and quirky gameplay mechanics.

The original script was co-written by filmmaker James Gunn, who is now best known for directing Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad.

What’s next for the franchise

Earlier this year, Dragami Games also announced that a brand-new Lollipop Chainsaw game is in development. The studio claims it will both honor the 2012 classic and expand on its ideas.

Additionally, an official anime adaptation of Lollipop Chainsaw is currently being produced, showing that the franchise is far from dead.
