Left 4 Dead Creator Developing New Four-Player Co-Op Shooter

Mike Booth, best known as the creative lead behind the cult-classic Left 4 Dead, has revealed that he’s working on a brand-new cooperative shooter. And just like his previous work, this upcoming title is designed to capture the same thrill, teamwork, and replayability that made Left 4 Dead so beloved.

Booth shared the news on Reddit, explaining that the project is being “built on the foundation of what made Left 4 Dead so special.” According to him, fans who enjoyed the tension, camaraderie, and unpredictability of his past games will find plenty to get excited about here.

At this stage, however, details are scarce—there’s no official title, no screenshots, and no trailers just yet. Still, Booth emphasized that this project isn’t just a retread. His goal is to “expand the co-op shooter genre in ways I’ve wanted to explore for a long time.”

Currently, Booth is part of Bad Robot Games, the gaming branch of J.J. Abrams’ production company. Development is still in its early stages, but Booth confirmed that small-scale playtests are on the horizon. A handful of players will get the chance to try it out first, with sign-ups available now on the studio’s official website.

With Booth’s track record, expectations are already sky-high—and co-op fans will definitely want to keep this game on their radar.
