Playtonic Games has officially revealed that Yooka-Replaylee, a modern reimagining of the beloved 2017 3D platformer Yooka-Laylee, will release on October 9, 2025. The game is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. Fans will also be able to pick up a physical edition on consoles, with the Switch 2 version shipping fully on cartridge.
A Fresh Take on a Modern Classic
Yooka-Replaylee isn’t just a simple remaster. The updated release delivers enhanced visuals, smoother animations, improved resolution, and refined performance. Players can also expect better controls and an upgraded camera system, making the colorful platforming adventure feel sharper and more polished than ever before.
A Nostalgic Yet New Experience
The game’s charming soundtrack, originally composed by Grant Kirkhope and David Wise, returns in this edition—now brought to life with a full orchestral performance. Fans of classic platformers will immediately recognize its inspiration from games like Banjo-Kazooie. That’s no surprise, considering that Playtonic was founded by several former Rare developers who helped define the genre.
After the original release of Yooka-Laylee, the studio followed up with the 2D side-scrolling sequel Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair. Now, with Yooka-Replaylee, they’re bringing the duo back in a revitalized adventure that blends nostalgia with modern upgrades.
